Let’s talk Hydrosols!

Let’s talk Hydrosols!

If you often find yourself in a situation similar to mine, chances are you're feeling overwhelmed amidst the complex maze of skincare terminology, struggling to navigate through it all. And if you say Hydrosols only feel like another added jargon, honestly, i'd understand.

But, hear me out..

When I first discovered hydrosols, I was totally blown away!

It felt truly magical to realize that a flower or a herb could be completely preserved without any compromise, and using it allowed you to fully immerse yourself in the plant's complete essence and freshness! One spritz takes you on a journey, experiencing the beauty of a lavender field, dozing under a wild rose bush, or strolling through an orange grove.

The moment that particularly stands out to me was when I created my first batch of Syah/Wild Rose hydrosol. Because I have grown up around Wild Roses, spraying that first mist onto my face filled me with such overwhelming emotions. It stirred a sweet sense of nostalgia within me, reminding me of home, childhood, and the warmth of summer. This marked my initial encounter with the potency of hydrosols, and I'm only scratching the surface here, focusing solely on their captivating scent. Their topical and external benefits are even more profound :)

But before I go on tell you why hydrosols are so enchanting, you may want to take a moment to understand what Hydrosols actually are.

Poetically, hydrosols are the holographic representations of plants, they embody the imprints, the ethereal manifestation of plant essence. And so, with each little droplet, you experience the entirety of a plant, holding not only its fragrance but also its most minute properties.

Scientifically and simply put, hydrosols are the condensate water coproduced during steam or hydro distillation of plant material. The process results in extraction of all of the plant’s components including concentrated volatile oils and phytonutrients. This would mean that the distilled plant water would contain all the properties of the plant like the regenerative and antimicrobial properties of lavender, antioxidants of calendula, astringent properties of peppermint and more.

In addition to the beneficial volatile oils and phytonutrients found in plants, which offer significant advantages when incorporated into skincare routines as toners, face and body mists, hydrosols also serve as powerful tools in aromatherapy. They possess aromatherapeutic properties that can effectively uplift mood and rejuvenate the senses.

While you can use hydrosols 'on the go' due to their aromatherapeutic properties, we especially recommend using hydrosols as toners and face mists as the first step in your skincare routine. Hydrosols offer a wonderful natural method to boost your skincare routine's efficacy. Simply spray it on after cleansing and before applying serums, creams, or oils. This prepares your skin, enhancing its receptivity to other products while providing moisture, nutrients, antioxidants, and soothing effects. Loaded with antioxidants, they shield your skin from free radical harm and are ideal for refreshing during warm summer days. Moreover, they help restore your skin's natural pH level, alleviating various symptoms.

Additionally, we exclusively utilize traditional alembic copper stills to distill hydrosols. Aside from their aesthetic appeal, these stills offer numerous remarkable benefits. Copper is renowned for its antibacterial properties, imparting some preservative effects to the hydrosol. Moreover, hydrosols distilled in copper yield a sweeter aroma.

Given this tapestry of enchantment, nostalgia, and topical goodness that I experienced with hydrosols, if my intention were to introduce you to plant wellness, it would be incomplete without Hydrosols! And let me assure you, this isn't just another buzzword intended to trap or pressure you into believing you need it. My aim here is solely to share the beauty of plants that have transformed my life, with the hope that they might also positively impact yours too.

And so, here we are :)
