The Story of Makoii
Hi, I'm Deskit
an enthusiastic gardener driven by a strong passion for nurturing and crafting with plants!
The thought of Makoii was conceived during a simple trek through Sham Valley in Ladakh in 2017, where I came back home after the trek with a journal full of pressed fragrant medicinal flowers and herbs that I had picked through the journey. I knew very little about these aromatic enigmas then and curiosity had me sinking into various books on flora then on.
A medley of fragrances from my journal lingered on for days,like a calling.
My journey into the beautiful world of plants then began and what started with studying, active cultivation and gardening at home, eventually grew and I found myself creating plant based products for self care and wellbeing.
A few years of self learning, various herbalism courses, cultivation and a multitude of trial and error has brought me to this pedestal where familiarity, knowledge and experience with plants allow me to comfortably practice the art of creating plant based formulations.

When I met Deskit, I knew her passion had to grow beyond her home and must be shared with the world. And so, in 2023, Makoii was born, with the intention to create a slow micro batch apothecary to produce handcrafted distillate, skincare formulations, botanical colors, precious oils, fragrances and more from herbs that we personally forage or grow and harvest seasonally. The aspiration is to introduce an alternative source of wellness that is wholesome and fresh from the farm, straight to your body!
Everything created at Makoii is hand made with slow traditional methods using 100% pure and fresh ingredients straight from the earth alone and nothing else!
As we move ahead in our journey, we are constantly learning, practicing and experimenting to be able to introduce more medicinal herbs to the apothecary and grow as many as we can.
Being both a grower and a maker, the products we make hold the essence of respect, love and consciousness that we ensure to practice and inculcate in our wildcrafting and cultivating methods and plants, being extremely sensitive to their surroundings, reflect this relationship in their produce.
We bring to you an apothecary with the intention of inspiring and supporting you in establishing daily rituals that enrich your life.
