Our Ethos

Makoii came into existence organically, taking shape through our curiosity and passion, first as gardeners, then as observers and students of plants, and eventually as formulators. Its existence was never forced. It unfolded naturally as our relationship with the plants around us deepened.
We do not create formulations on demand. They arise when our familiarity with a plant reaches a level where its properties, energetics, rhythms, and personality become clear, almost as if the formulation were whispered by the plant itself.
Our intention is simple: to bring you the fullest expression of what a plant can offer, beyond its visual beauty, beyond its fragrance. Plants carry intelligence. Long before modern systems of medicine, they nourished and supported life, externally as healing agents and internally as food and sustenance.
Makoii began from love. Love for nature, for land, for soil, for growing things, and for the quiet magic within them. What started as creations for ourselves slowly expanded when friends resonated with what we were making. Their encouragement led us to open our small Himalayan apothecary.
We are small.
We are slow.
We are simple.
We are transparent.
We draw inspiration from ancestral traditions of plant medicine, including the Himalayan science of Sowa Rigpa, and we approach this wisdom with humility and authenticity.
We do not strive for bulk, mechanical production.
We do not strive for competition.
We strive for integrity.
We are honest in what we make, honest in how we source, honest in the methods we practice, and honest with you. Our work is guided by a desire to honour the potency of high-altitude plants and the fragile ecosystems they belong to.
Makoii exists so we may continue nurturing plants, learning from them, and sharing their gifts, and so that you may experience the depth and vitality that they have to offer.
